Positively Positive

What are the recent positive influences in my life today, and why?

This question does require some thought, as truth be told I can’t quickly name the current positive influences or thinkers in my life, straight off the top of my head — yet I really feel like I should be able to.

It’s a sure-fire sign that I need to hunt down and surround myself with many more positive influences.

Nom nom nom, time to let those good-vibes in!

Positively Humble

Chris Do is “an Emmy award-winning designer, director, CEO and Chief Strategist of Blind and the founder of The Futur — an online education platform with the mission of teaching 1 billion people how to make a living doing what they love”.

While not such a humble goal, and despite his achievements as a driven and talented individual, this person most certainly emotes humbleness for me.

I can’t explain how — but I just feel this is the kind of person who both realises their own potential and the potential of others, but at the same time is truly grateful and appreciative of where they are now and what they have today.

Positively Kind

No brainer for this one seeing as in one week it’ll be #Kindfest2020. Team Kind are a non-profit society of volunteers who aim to promote individuals, organisations, companies, and communities to work with kindness.

It’s a sign of changing times that such a group exists, and an indication that parts of the world are moving away from outdated attitudes to life and work.

As the world continues to thrash-out its approach to work, mental health, autonomy, and fast-paced digital growth, kindness is much needed and very much valued.

Positively Awesome

Maybe it’s because I re-watched Avengers Endgame recently, but Brie Larson (that’s right, captain Marvel herself!) is definitely someone on my radar as being positively awesome, and positively inclusive.

She champions for greater inclusion of LGBTQ+ community in cinema, genuinely seems to care about others, and shines a positive light all, both on and off screen.

Marvel Studios

It’s also The Marvel universe films in general that have been a positive inspiration in recent years, with releases such as Black Panther championing inclusion and diversity.

Sometimes it’s the fantasy genres that can side-step the noise and politics of reality, allowing for everyone to be awesomely inspired in the real world, too!

Perhaps my influences and sources of positivity might change week on week, but I believe taking the time to think about them and surround myself with them day-by-day is critical to getting through these tough times —and ultimately leading a more positive life.
